We are so appreciative for our many volunteers at MNC. Without your dedication, we would not be able to deliver our education programs, fundraising activities and patient support programs. The precious gifts of your time, enthusiasm, experience, talents and wisdom allows MNC to shine. Your acts of kindness leave a great impact on the hearts of many.
We are truly blessed and grateful to have you as invaluable members of our team. We cannot say thank you enough for all that you do.
Thank You to our Volunteer Board of Directors
From Falyn Katz, Executive Director, Melanoma Network of Canada
“There are no office hours for leaders.” –Cardinal J. Gibbons
The MNC Board of Directors commit countless hours to providing guidance and oversight. They are truly inspiring leaders who have dedicated their time, effort, and resources to supporting the cause. They are enthusiastic and determined. They lend their skills and expertise to various committees and help to steer the organization to deliver on our mission.
This group of thirteen demonstrates incredible thoughtfulness; keeping patients top of mind, serving the melanoma and skin cancer community with compassion and care. Never afraid to innovate, the MNC Board of Directors will drive the organization forward and ensure our long term success.
The MNC staff are grateful to the Board of Directors for their commitment this week and always, and extend our heartfelt thanks for all you do to advance our work.
The Impact that Special Event and Fundraising Volunteers have on our agency
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and build lasting personal connections. At Melanoma Network of Canada (MNC), we are incredibly grateful for the dedication and commitment of the volunteers who have donated their time and talents over the years.
Some have taken on responsibilities at our annual Cover up for Melanoma Gala and Strides Walk events; while others have hosted their own events in support of MNC. But no matter how they chose to help, volunteers are the key to MNC’s success! MNC’s staff team is lean and volunteers are an essential part of MNC’s workforce, we are forever thankful for those who gift their time.
Volunteering with MNC offers many benefits. Volunteers gain direct, hands-on experience in their role. Volunteers have the opportunity to work in a variety of different roles, and to gain transferable skills that can be valuable for careers. From registration and logistics, to marketing and sponsorship, no matter your interest or skillset, there’s a way to dive in and help out!
Thank You From Annette Cyr
Chair and Founder, Melanoma Network of Canada
Impact of volunteers is immeasurable. You have to consider every aspect of our organization and what we do. We would not exist as an organization without their help.
The volunteers that help out at Melanoma Information Sessions – being present, helping with registration and distribution of resources – we do not have enough staff to do it without them; peer support – listening to others, helping us provide this great information; volunteering to be a resource and kind and experienced ear for others going through treatment or just the trials and tribulations of a diagnosis; volunteers that participate in our drug advocacy – that fill out questionnaires and give guidance and opinions of needs of the community – we wouldn’t have the influence on what patient needs are without their participation and leadership; the patient advisory council and Sun Safety Council – helping to provide input into programs, initiatives and services – all key to ensuring we are adding value as a community; the countless hours they have provided to make videos, communications and tools and resources that are so impactful for our community of patients, their families, the funders and for our political leaders to better understand the disease, our challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead; the Board members who volunteer their time for meetings, committees, fundraising events, guidance for staff and who help to ensure a strong and vibrant organization by sharing their time and insights. Group facilitators volunteer to be a resource, a kind and experienced ear for others going through treatment or just the trials and tribulations of a diagnosis. Medical professionals that volunteer time and resources to help us reach patients and provide accurate and timely information on an ongoing basis; the thousands of hours that volunteers provide annually to help with fundraising to ensure we can continue to provide services and resources free of charge across the country; the thousands of hours of calls and emails that are responded to by our volunteers – for people in crisis or in dire need of information and connection with others who have been in their shoes. The impact for so many just thinking they only volunteer a few hours of time is like dropping a pebble in a pond – it makes a small impact but the ripple effect of those few hours of time or dollars given has an ongoing and lasting impact on so many lives beyond what is seen.
