Dr. Tina Cheng, M.Sc., M.D., F.R.C.P.(C)

Dr. Cheng is an expert in melanoma, testicular germ cell cancer, and other GU cancers. She is recognized as a national expert in immune-oncology and a productive clinical trialist. She has led two multi-centre clinical trials in Canada and has contributed to several key oncology drug developments in recent years. Her key research interest is in the area of immunotherapy for cancers, especially melanoma focusing on disease characteristics, treatment outcome, and clinical and biological predictors for response and toxicity. She is experienced in database research and translational research. Currently, she is investigating UV-mediated melanomagenesis and molecular signatures of UV mutagenesis.

Celestina Martopullo is a clinical Psycho-Oncologist supporting (primarily) the Gastro-Intestinal-(GI) Tumor group at the TBCC and holds an adjunct lecturer appointment with the Department of Psychosocial Oncology Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. She has over 12 years of experience in providing advanced clinical therapy through multiple interventions including: individual/couple/family/group with the aim of encouraging patients’ healthy adaptive patterns of thought/behavior, minimizing cancer related distress, enhancing coping, and improving quality of life. She operates from an integrative perspective (drawing upon various psychotherapy theories: cognitive-behavioral, supportive-expressive, humanistic/existential, mind-body/spiritual, solution focused) – tailoring interventions to unique psychosocial contexts of patients. She is passionate about delivering psycho-educational seminars to cancer patients and medical staff, and is currently engaged as a Principal Investigator in a mixed method longitudinal evaluation study of a supportive group therapy for men with GI cancers.

Celestina graduated with distinction from the University of Calgary obtaining a Bachelor & Master degree in Clinical Social Work; she is a registered member of the Alberta College of Social Workers – Authorized to Perform (restricted) Psychosocial Interventions. She obtained her first degree – Master of Education from a European University.
