Margo is a Social Worker in the Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care Program of The Princess Margaret Cancer Care Centre, where she provides support and counselling to patients and families through all stages of their cancer journey.
Margo is a volunteer coordinator with the Healing Beyond the Body (HBB) program – a specialized program which trains volunteers to provide emotional support to patients and caregivers, along with providing information about resources and navigation of the cancer care system. Margo provides ongoing training and supervision to over 150 HBB volunteers and facilitates training and presentations within UHN departments and to organizations throughout the community.
Margo is particularly interested in prevention and increasing support to people living with melanoma and their caregivers because of her personal experience of losing her twin sister – Clare – to melanoma in 1998.
Margo has been a social worker for over 20 years. Prior to working in the cancer care sector, she worked extensively in the violence against women field at Toronto Western Hospital, and at various community agencies. She is a graduate of University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University.
